In this guide, we’ll explain how to log in to your VPS and update your password to ensure your server’s security.


Step 1: Locate Your VPS Login Details

After completing your purchase, log in to your WinSparrow account. Navigate to your VPS details page, where you’ll find the following information:

  • IP Address
  • Username
  • VPS First Password

Important: Always use the password provided in your account for your first login.


Step 2: Log in to Your Windows VPS

  1. Open the Remote Desktop Connection (RDP) tool on your local device:
    • Press Win , type RDP  , and hit Enter.
  2. In the RDP window:
    • Enter the IP Address provided in your account.
    • Click Connect.
  3. When prompted:
    • Enter your Username and VPS First Password from your WinSparrow account.
    • Click OK to log in.

You are now logged into your Windows VPS!


Step 3: Change Your VPS Password

To secure your server, you must change the default password provided by WinSparrow immediately after logging in. Follow these steps:

Method 1: Using Ctrl + Alt + End

  1. While connected to your VPS via RDP:
    • Press Ctrl + Alt + End (not Ctrl + Alt + Delete).
  2. Click Change a Password.
  3. Enter:
    • Current Password: The VPS First Password from your WinSparrow account.
    • New Password: Create a strong and unique password.
    • Confirm New Password.
  4. Press Enter to save your new password.

Method 2: Via Settings

If you prefer using the Settings menu:

  1. Open the Start Menu and select Settings.
  2. Go to Accounts > Sign-in Options.
  3. Under Password, click Change.
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to update your password.

Best Practices for Your New Password

  • Use at least 12 characters.
  • Include a mix of:
    • Uppercase and lowercase letters.
    • Numbers and special symbols.
  • Avoid easily guessed passwords, such as names or birthdates.
  • Update your password regularly to maintain security.

The default password provided is temporary and should not be used long-term. Updating your password ensures your VPS is secure and protected against unauthorized access.
